Dental prostheses

If you have badly decayed or damaged teeth, or you have one or more missing teeth, Dental prostheses may be the suitable for you!

Dental prostheses are artificial teeth that can effectively replace one or more missing teeth, or even the whole denture.
There are two main types of dental prostheses: fixed prostheses and removable prostheses.

Fixed Dental Prostheses:

Fixed dental prostheses are those prostheses which cannot be removed by the patient. They replace one or more missing or permanently damaged teeth. They include dental crowns and dental bridges.

Dental crowns:

A dental crown covers the top of a tooth and is designed to match the color and shape of the natural tooth.

When it is possible, the crown can be placed directly on the natural tooth. Otherwise, if the latter can no longer support the crown, due to severe damage or decays, it is extracted and replaced by an implant which acts as a support for the crown.

Dental crowns are most often used to restore a single tooth missing or several missing teeth that are not adjacent to each other.

Bridges:

While a dental crown is a single cap that covers a tooth damaged or decayed, a bridge consists of two dental crowns with a or several fake teeth between them.

Thus, dental bridges are able to restore at the same time several adjacent decayed, damaged or missing teeth.

As for simple crowns, when the natural teeth are unable to support the prosthesis, they are removed and replaced by a dental implant. In this case, the technique is called “Implant-supported dental bridge”.
In this case, the implant plays a key role in supporting the crowns and the fake teeth, ensuring the stability of the structure and the harmonious interaction with the rest of the buccal structures.

Removable Dental Prostheses:

A removable prosthesis, is one or several teeth, or even an entire artificial dentition, that can be removed at any time by the patient for brushing or for sleeping.
Removable prostheses can be complete or partial.

Removable Dental Prostheses:

Removable prostheses can be complete or partial.

Complete removable prosthesis (Dentures):

The complete removable denture is recommended if you have no teeth left at all.
They will effectively replace your natural teeth and you can remove them whenever you want for maintenance or for sleep.

This type of prosthesis is generally made of acrylic resin. For an aesthetically pleasing result, your dentures will mimic the appearance and color of your natural teeth and gums.

The main benefits of this solution are its advantageous cost and the ease of its realization.

You will get used to it very easily, and quickly regain normal chewing and speaking functions without having to go through a long healing phase.

Partially removable prosthesis:

Unlike the previous one, the partially removable prosthesis only replaces one or more teeth.

This type of prosthesis is anchored to your existing teeth through hooks and can support new fake teeth in case of further losses.

It is generally more stable than full dentures as it will partially rest on your teeth. Easy to design, it can be adapted to the evolution of your teeth and adjusted in case you lose one or more additional teeth.
